A well-known Hindu temple devoted to Lord Shri Krishna and Radha Rani is called Banke Bihari Temple. This temple is situated 13 kilometers from the Mathura district in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh in the city of Vrindavan. Since this temple is very old, one must travel through numerous tiny streets to get there. The idol in the temple is a very lovely representation of Lord Shri Krishna and Radha Rani together. This dark-colored idol clearly depicts the image of Lord Shri Krishna in child form. It is thought that this idol materialized on its own as a result of a devotee of Lord Krishna’s prayer.

The Banke Bihari Temple is also connected to a number of well-known legends. This idol of Shri Banke Bihari Ji is said to have appeared in response to a prayer offered by Swami Haridas, one of his well-known devotees. Tansen, the well-known music emperor, had Swami Haridas as his guru. As a passionate music enthusiast, Swami Haridas would often sing devotionals to Lord Krishna. Throughout his whole life, Swami Haridas was devoted to and worshipped Lord Krishna.

Haridas was a devoted follower of Krishna. It is thought that during the Hindu month of Margashirsha, Lord Shri Krishna and Radharani made their appearance here in the form of idols. Come to this temple, devotees seek the blessings of Lord Shri Krishna through darshan. In this temple, Lord Shri Krishna is depicted in child form. He is renowned for his mischievous personality and never stops wanting his devotees’ love as a result. This temple is said to be connected to numerous miracles. History of Bankebihari Temple:

Swami Haridas ji, the guru of the famous music emperor Tansen, built this temple in 1860. The followers of Swami Haridas renovated this temple again a few years later in 1921. It is said that Lord Krishna and Radha Rani sometimes appeared before Swami Haridas. His child form appeared when he was lost in devotion to Lord Krishna.

Once Swami Haridas ji was asked to give darshan of Shri Krishna and Radha Rani to his disciples. Next time when Swami Haridas ji became engrossed in his devotion, he questioned Radha Rani and Shri Krishna on this subject. After this, Lord Krishna said, “If you want, I can stay here.” Haridas ji replied, “Kanha, you can live in any form if I want, but Radha Rani ji will have to wear new clothes every day.” And since I’m a monk.

At this Shri Krishna smiled and disappeared. After completing his meditation, Swami Haridas Ji saw that a large idol depicting the combined forms of Shri Krishna and Radha had been installed in front of him. When Swami Haridas and his followers saw this, they were overjoyed and created the idol that devotees still see in the Banke Bihari temple.

How to celebrate Holi in Vrindavan

Banke Bihari Temple celebrates the festival of Holi with great fanfare and merriment. In Vrindavan, the Holi celebration spans nearly a month. Beginning on the day of Basant Panchami, the Holi festival is celebrated with Gulal, Chandan, and other props during pujas. At the Banke Bihari Temple, thousands of devotees celebrate the festival of Holi on the occasion of the colorful Ekadashi.

Banke Bihari ji is clothed in white and seated on the throne on this particular day. Since this day, the temple has been celebrating the Holi tradition. Devotees play Holi in the temple on this day using Teshu flowers and Abir Gulal colors. About 100 kg of Teshu flowers were used to make the colors two days prior to Holi, which is used to play Holi with Lord Krishna.
